Editorial Policy

Last updated: September 26, 2026

Our goal is simple: publish accurate, useful, up-to-date guidance you can act on. This policy explains how.

Editorial independence

Our editors decide what we cover and what we recommend. Advertisers and affiliate partners cannot buy positive coverage, rankings or "winner" status. Sponsored content is always labelled.

Our content workflow

Every piece moves through defined stages, tracked in our content system:

  1. Idea → Research → Brief
  2. Draft (human or AI-assisted)
  3. Fact-check — every claim, number and product detail verified against primary sources
  4. Editorial review — clarity, completeness, fairness
  5. Approved → Published
  6. Needs update — flagged by scheduled reviews or reader reports

How we use AI

We use AI tools for research assistance, outlining, drafting and editing. AI-generated text is never published automatically: it must pass fact-checking and be approved by a human editor. Articles where AI assisted are marked in the "How we made this guide" box.

Facts, sources and claims

  • We cite primary sources (official documentation, vendor pages, standards bodies) where claims matter.
  • We never fabricate pricing, ratings, reviews, testimonials or statistics.
  • Where evidence is uncertain — for example, AI search ranking factors — we say so.

Reviews and comparisons

Reviews show the reviewer, last reviewed date, methodology and disclosures. Comparisons list the criteria used and don't declare automatic winners. See our review methodology.

Updates

We re-review important pages on a schedule and whenever products change. Each article shows its published, updated and last reviewed dates.
